Philosopher Award

The Philosopher is an academic professional or institution with a demonstrated commitment and track record of influencing the learning environment for students in high school, secondary or post-secondary education geared toward advertising, marketing and communications.

The recipient has a steadfast passion for teaching and an established career in academia. Their track record includes involvement in curriculum design, current and progressive teaching methods and making an impact inside and outside of the classroom by advocating for diversity through community support and/or volunteerism.

Pantheon Award

The Pantheon Award is given to a transformational leader who  is highly regarded as a cultivator, supporter and champion of  multicultural talent. This individual has been recognized as a pillar  of unwavering strength among peers, leadership and the community at-large, for their efforts to propel the advertising and media  industry forward in the area of diversity and inclusion.

Gladiator Award

The Gladiator Award is a symbol of extraordinary achievement and fearlessness in the corporate arena. Its recipients have been steadfast and unyielding in their pursuit to challenge conventional wisdom and transcend the status quo.

This modern-day Gladiator is the highest caliber executive who takes great pride in leveraging their individual talents to propel others at all levels toward the best possible future. This leader is the embodiment of the highest standard of excellence in their organization and community.

Bill Sharp Award

The Bill Sharp Award for the Future of Advertising recognizes  excellence in marketing, advertising and media by awarding  up-and-coming industry leaders with a financial award. Learn more.


The MAIP Agency of the Year Award was established to recognize an agency that has made significant contributions to the Multicultural  Advertising Intern Program and its alumni. 


In 2001, BBDO launched the Clarence LeRoy Holte MAIP Fellow  of The Year Award. Clarence joined BBDO in 1952 and was the first  African-American to reach the executive level in a general-market  advertising agency. In his work at BBDO, he often traveled to Europe  and Africa, where he found inspiration to develop the first advertising campaign that associated a brand with black history. 

Clarence Leroy Holte, a personification of all of the aforementioned attributes, died in Oakland, Calif., at the age of 85 in 1993. He is survived by his daughter, Helen Holte, DDS, and two grandchildren. The award is given each year to a student who exemplifies outstanding leadership and initiative and a passion for our business, who embraces its principles, and who demonstrates poise, compassion and consideration of the team effort.


Combining our efforts to recognize the many unique creative fellows nationwide who exhibit a real passion and promise for the creative  advertising field, MAIP and The One Club are pleased to announce  The One Club MAIP “Creative Fellow of the Year” Award. Inspired by  a 2011 MAIP creative fellow whose resolve to overcome obstacles led to recognition as the finest creative in the agency, this new award represents the unrelenting spirit and drive we are looking for in the next generation of our industry’s creative advertising professionals.
